Histology Slide Preparation Service Turnaround Times

• 2 weeks for routine slide preparation, 4–5 weeks for large studies or specialized embedding or sectioning requests. Call for more specific information.
• 3–day advance notice is recommended in order to guarantee your turnaround times.
• A STAT fee will be applied if overtime or additional staffing is needed.

Additional Guidelines

• Label histology cassettes with #2 pencil or a mechanical pencil with 0.5-mm lead (pen and marker will wash off during processing, including those products indicated as “permanent”).
• Provide any special post-fixation procedure instructions required when submitting samples.

Diagnostic Submissions

If a diagnosis requires additional staining beyond the standard H&E, the pathologist will contact the client to discuss the value of performing these additional stains and the associated costs.

Turnaround Times
A diagnostic pathology report will be available within 10 working days from receipt of specimen. Anatomic pathologists frequently provide findings via call or email within 2–3 days from receipt of sample in order to retrieve additional history or request for special stains helpful to the final disposition of the case.

Slide Preparation

Charges for tissue evaluation vary depending on evaluation criteria and needs of the study. Other charges may include special stains, morphometric analyses, shipping costs for return of samples
